"We're actually moving overseas."

"Oh, really? Where?"

"Italy!"

"Wow! That's awesome! What will you be doing there?"

"Well..." 

We have had this conversation more times than either of us can count. Neither of us has settled on a quick, simple response of what we will be doing in Italy. 

So, the short answer is, "... We will be directing a ministry called Avanti Italia."

When this is met with a (understandably) blank stare, we try to follow up:

"Avanti Italia is a ministry in which college grads commit two years to teaching free English lessons using the Bible as the working text. Our job as directors will be to support and mentor the two year workers, to maintain the property where we and the workers will live, and to serve with the local church in Florence." 

Though most people seem to accept this answer, it still seems lacking. The reality is that it is kind of hard to describe in one short sentence or even a short paragraph.

In all honesty, we are still figuring out the what. 

Right now, we are doing our best to support our workers from afar. We have been blessed with some fantastic workers already in Italy and some who are preparing to go in January. We pray for each of them daily and communicate as much as we can with them. 

We are also thinking of and praying for the church in Florence. We are so anxious to see the faces of the brothers and sisters we have been bringing to the Lord in prayer. 

We are looking forward to serving and living alongside of all of these precious souls. At this point, we are riding the wave of prayer and expectation until we are on the ground in Italy.
